A trio of ragtag suburbanites eager to unleash their sound on the masses, Red Herring is the culmination of years spent in various other bands, only to form in spring of 2005 with every intention of being the band on everyones lips. Fusing rocking guitars with a little piano love, their sound cant be confined to any individual genre. Their live shows a blend of their energetic sound and their own flavor of humor are aimed at rocking the crowd to the brink of exhaustion. Their catchy hooks and piercing melodies will have you tapping your feet and singing the words for weeks to come. This is only the beginning the end is nowhere in sight. Welcome.
It was exactly one week before Christmas in the year 1986, A.D., when a boy (who shares Brad Pitt’s b-day, and who some said would be the next Wayne Gretzky) was delivered in a hospital in Detroit that no longer exists. Ok so those are just a few of many pointless facts about Dave Bartkowiak Jr. The truth is that all you really need to know about Dave is he has a bass guitar and loves to play it. He lives for music and hockey, and the occasional steak dinner. Oh yea, he’s from Livonia, MI, he loves roller coasters, and he can be caught in the local bowling alleys at the most unusual times, and a friend once said to him “You are certifiably insane”, and meant it, with love of course.
Benjamin Russell Collins-Hamel is a refined mixture of his mother’s charm, father’s wisdom and Matt Damon’s looks. Infamous for having moved more than 20 times, he has mastered 15 Metro-Detroit dialects and is fluent in Pontiacanese. Raised on the saxophone, his current musical energies go into guitar and mastery of the kazoo. One day he hopes to be a doctor, in the Patch Adams sense.
Jeff became acquainted with Red Herring long before the band even formed, breaking Dave's collarbone when they were just nine years old in a grueling hockey game. Known for improvising silly voices and reverting to Spanish mid-sentence, Jeff also augments the band's intellectual prowess, often spouting out random factoids about the universe. Although Jeff once learned 21 songs on the drums in just 36 hours, he has been known to hit his snare "like a little girl." On a more serious note, Jeff aspires to be a fluent-in-Spanish biomechanical engineer. No, seriously, that's what he's studying.
